Grupo OMI
The OMI Group, made up of the companies OMIE, OMIP, OMIClear, OMEL and OMEL Diversificación, manages the wholesale electricity and natural gas markets on the Iberian Peninsula. Its mission is to ensure transparency, efficiency and innovation in the management of energy markets.
Based in Lisbon and Madrid, the OMI Group is responsible for operating the daily and intraday electricity markets, for clearing and financial settlement and for providing energy data and indicators in real time.
The Group's institutional and multisite website, developed and maintained by JAVALI using the Drupal platform, integrates the different entities into a cohesive, multilingual and scalable digital ecosystem, allowing the group to communicate clearly and efficiently with its stakeholders.
The main challenge was to integrate various platforms and languages into a single digital environment, while guaranteeing:
- Visual and editorial coherence between the group's different companies;
- Decentralized content management, with multiple user profiles;
- High security and performance, essential in sensitive energy data contexts;
- Adherence to GDPR standards and public transparency requirements;
- Technical scalability for continuous evolution of the platform.
In addition, the project had to ensure optimized multilingual experiences (PT, ES and EN), integration with internal systems and migration of historical data from previous versions.
The project was initially launched in Drupal 8 and, through a strategy of continuous evolution, was later migrated to Drupal 9 and Drupal 10, reflecting JAVALI's commitment to technological innovation and digital sustainability. Its main features include:
- Decentralized editorial management, with profiles and approval flows;
- Integration with the internal energy data system, allowing automatic updating of indicators;
- Media module and integration with Spreadsheets, for simplified management of content and graphics;
- SEO optimization with Search API, Metatag and XML Sitemap;
- Reinforced security, with password policies, audits and regular updates;
- Optimized editorial interface (Gin Theme and Gin Toolbar), ensuring usability and productivity;
- Responsive and accessible design, in line with WCAG 2.1 standards.
The open source approach has also allowed JAVALI to contribute back to the Drupal community, namely with the evolution of internal modules and performance improvements.
