The ISPA Instituto Universitário (ISPA – University Institute) began activity in 1962 as Institute of Psychopedagogical Sciences, adopting in 1964 the designation of Higher Institute of Applied Psychology (SPA). In 2009, it reached a milestone by becoming a University Institute, reinforcing its organizational and pedagogical model.
Recognized nationally and internationally for scientific and pedagogical excellence, ISPA sought to update its digital presence, ensuring a more modern, integrated communication capable of supporting its academic, scientific and cultural mission.
The institution faced the need to modernize its digital image and standardize channels, while trying to boost the availability of content on the internet. It was fundamental:
- renew the institutional portal with an updated digital identity;
- Create an online store for simplified management of publications and products;
- To provide a platform of professional exits, bringing students and employers closer together;
- Ensure technological flexibility and autonomy in content management.
ISPA relied on JAVALI to develop an integrated digital ecosystem based on Drupal, which included:
- renewed institutional portal, focusing on clarity and accessibility of information;
- Integrated online shop, allowing ISPA to manage products and publications autonomously;
- Professional exit platform (UP Jobs), linking students to career opportunities;
- Unified Backoffice in Drupal, which simplified editorial management and reduced duplication of processes.
The new digital ecosystem of ISPA has enabled:
- Modernize the image of the institution in the academic and general public;
- Provide innovative online services that strengthen the link between students, teachers and employers;
- Ensure greater autonomy in editorial management, reducing time and effort in content publishing;
- Increase the visibility and attractiveness of ISPA through integrated digital communication.

Contribution to the Drupal community
This project reinforced JAVALI's experience in creating complex digital ecosystems in Drupal, applying reusable methodologies in academic contexts. The development of the professional outsourcing platform allowed for the consolidation of innovative solutions in Drupal with replication potential in other higher education institutions, thus contributing to the community and to the appreciation of open source.
