Ubuntu version 11.4 is now available

Canonical has released today version 4.11 of Ubuntu Server, the open source operating system for servers. Despite concerns at the level of reliability and safety alleged by some, the choice for businesses can mean advantages in terms of scale and savings, which have helped to convince many.

The amendments to pave the Ubuntu Server operating system to a greater use of clouds of companies, to meet the expected increase in resource use by the companies themselves, said a Canonical spokesman, quoted by PC World.

"Those who have private clouds will really enhance resource utilization in the coming years. Our concern is to ensure the ability to respond to requests as customers deploy more and more servers in the cloud, " said Vice President business area Canonical's business, Steve George.

The version 4.11 update a series of software packages essential for deployments in as Eucalyptus 2.02, and brings greater support to libvirt (a set of programs for managing virtual machines) and KVM (Kernel-based Virtualization).

Today is also available the new desktop version of open source operating system distributed by Canonical, Ubuntu 4.11. This will be the first to bring the user interface of Unity as a pre-defined.
