Sines Tecnopolo is an innovative project, where free software is present in all its infrastructure and thus a source of pride for the whole Javali team.
Sines Tecnopolo is situated well in the national forefront use of free software, and the first park of Science and Technology, in Portugal, where the only software available is free.
The solution, based on the project called LTSP (/ Linux Terminal Server Project /) available in the distribution of Linux called Ubuntu. This facility contains, among others, productive tools (Open Office) / Web Browser / (Firefox), the customer / email / (Thunderbird and Evolution). a collaborative management environment based on collaborative portal "Liferay" is under development and parameterization , also based on free software.
The level of hardware was a concern to achieve a solution economically and environmentally friendly, and used it to light terminals, which are fifteen times lower than the consumption of a normal computer. These lightweight terminals, also known as / Thin Clients / are in a high-speed network, with servers in high availability. |
