According to IDC the Linux market will grow about 17.6 percent per year until 2013. The study of nearly 1,000 companies (726 and 138 use technology suppliers of IT solutions) showed that institutions with more than 10 employees, 50% do not use open source software, which number no more than 10% in those with more 100 workers. Among the companies that use free software, Linux is the applicant, being present in 11.9% of business users of IT and 12.9% for solutions providers. Firefox comes in second, with 11.1% adherence on companies using IT and 8.5% for solutions providers. Already in third place is MySQL, chosen by 10.5% and 10% respectively. These figures produced by Gabriel Coimbra during the Linux 2010 event, reflects a review conducted in 2009, but revised, since the levels of intended investment in open source software, have increased with the financial crisis, benefiting from the adoption of Linux.. |
